Colors
by kymee
The colors black and yellow
resemble a bruise that’s aged
Stricken by the hand of a man
has caused me to feel all the rage.

Beaten for the very last time
a life so misunderstood
Packing my things to leave him
this time it will be for good.

Black and yellow of my dreams
shattered into tiny pieces
Like laundry out of a dryer
wrinkled with many creases.

Dirty laundry for all to hear
life has been difficult at best
Fear resides inside of me
it’s one thing he won’t confess.

Black and yellow more than colors
together they will make brown
The happy smile I use to have
has been turned upside down.

A journey I must survive
my destiny is one I choose
Strength I found on the inside
helps this battle I will not lose.
