"How was school?" asked Mom. "Boring. I have to do this stupid project on my future job for careers class," said Margi. "So what do you want to be when you grow up?" "A lawyer," Margi responded. "Why a lawyer?" "Duh, because they make a lot of money. Then I have a house three times the size of ours and I can buy whatever car I want. And I can go shopping without asking Dad for money. And I can pay somebody to do all my schoolwork for me. Can you make me a sandwich?" "No." "Why not?" "Well, since you'll be a lawyer, you can go have your maid go make you a sandwich," said Mom. "But--that's not fair! I'm not a lawyer yet!" "First lesson of law school: life's not fair." |
