I live in Charleston, SC. It is a very historical city and fired the first shot of the civil war on Ft. Sumter. There are gorgeous old live oak trees that are over 100 years old. Middle Gardens, the first formal gardens in the continent, boasts of a live oak of 500 years old. It does look ancient.
Charleston and several other cities support lots of huge alligators. Some are 16 feet long and probably larger. I have a photo of one that is carrying a huge wild boar. I estimate he's maybe 16 feet, maybe more. I'll send you an attacment.
I have always worked with animals, since 1967 at the Animal Forest where the animals, all native wildlife, live in large habitats. They feel more natural and the ones I raised where very tame to me. Check out my port and read, "Gator in the Road or Losing my Head." It is exciting and gave me such a rush. He was blocking both lanes of a busy highway!
