I don't know if you have seen the Pride and Prejudice BBC Miniseries with Colin Firth. That is how I got interested in Pride and Prejudice, which I read as a kid, but didn't really remember. That series follows the book really closely and it was neat to read the book after seeing it, because then I could picture all the characters.
I am not an expert at all on her - I did the same thing you did recently downloading the free stuff of hers on amazon to the Kindle! I also enjoyed Sense and Sensibility (the movie with Hugh Grant), but I have not read the book.
