"We're robbing a bank," Nadia declared. She had a big grin on her face. It was the kind Devin now associated with flashing red lights you see on the road before a train comes crashing through. It was a bit subtler than that, but Devin was beginning to piece out, painstakingly enough, his partner's mood swings and pitches. "No," he said, "That's moronic. We're C-list villains and the only thing we'll get out of it is jail time Nadia." She glared. "Call me Nighteye." "Uh...no, that's weird." "See? This is why no one takes us seriously Blade!" "And robbing a bank will? Whatever, I bought macaroni tonight and-" A blast of wind. When Devin looked up, he could hear the roar of the city, the air was freezing, their window glass was shattered - of course it was, drama was Nadia's lifeblood - and his partner had vanished. ............................... Nadia used her powers to cut off the main alarm. Then, slipping inside, she hesitated before a security camera. In her mind, she counted to eight. It wouldn't take that long; her partner might have the emotional exterior of a streetlamp, but he was, as she'd learned, a true partner in crime. Devin appeared. "This is so dumb." "Six. Not bad." "What?" "Never mind. Take out the cameras?" Together it was easier than ever. Once inside, after Devin tossed the money into a bag, he turned around. Nadia was beaming. "What are you doing?" "Leaving them a note! Ha! Imagine their surprise when they realize they'd been hoodwinked by the Diamond Duo!" "That name..."Devin sighed, not quite hiding his own grin. "Whatever, let's keep it."
