Just starting reading John Sandford's "Rules of Prey", which is the first book(published in 1989 I believe) in what is now known as the Prey Series. It's a nice, easy read which is what I was expecting and hoping for. It's a nice break between my deeper books. If anyone enjoys reading the Jack Reacher books or similar fare, then you would likely enjoy this.
The series revolves around a detective, who is actually wealthy(I'll leave the why to your reading), named Lucas Davenport. He has an edge to him and a cockiness that probably comes from the fact that he doesn't need the job but is also particularly good at it. A cop that truly enjoys the cop part of the job. I'm only about 200 pages in, but I like the character development so far. Looking forward to the rest.
I believe the series now has 20+ books in it, so there will be plenty of reading to look forward to in the future.
