Thanks for the response. I understand the desire to monetize your site. I have a couple of open sourced projects I work on myself that I make money for via patreon. Though I'll be honest, this feels like a trojan botnet. I think folks wouldn't mind so long as it was made known, but just using up someone's bandwidth and processing power without letting them know feels immoral. It could be a problem for folks who browse on limited data phones, or leave tabs open and don't understand why their computer is lagging.
I don't use adblocker, and I'd be happy to opt into something like this to help contribute, but just from my perspective a hidden mandatory coin miner feels sketchy, both for the author, who's work your monetizing, and the viewer, who doesn't realize what's being done on their computer.
Either way, you should realize that the miner is being detected and blocked by anti-virus software, so you may need to make the opt in optional anyway.
