Deleting an item moves it to your Recycle Bin, from which an item can be recovered if you change your mind. Thus, items in your Bin still count toward your item limits.

To free an item slot, you need to delete AND purge the items you are discarding. Once you purge the Bin, your item usage count will drop below 10, and you will be able to create new items. Directions are in the Bin header, which is at the bottom of your Portfolio listing.
