I apologize I don't mean this as an attack against you, but this really does dig at me. The number of services that the general public enjoys for free, because of the contributions of a niche community is phenomenally large: Wikipedia. .io games. A huge portion of youtube. Enumerable apps. Almost every browser plug in. More freeware than you imagine. Discord, Team Speak, and other social apps. A dozen MMO's, a hundred FPS, Card Games, Moba's, and more. Bloggers, authors, photographers, videographers, comic artists, and musicians share their products for free. Educators of philosophy, History, Programming, and many more are all free. All of these are incredible services available totally free to general public because of the niche that appreciates the service the most and pays for it. You really can't take that "it's only 6 cents a day" mentality, someone else is paying your 6 cents on a dozen other services available to you for free. It is not presumptuous, in todays market, to think that a service like this shouldn't have a barrier to enter. I'm not saying you can't put up a barrier if you want. That's your call. It's perfectly understandable to protect your own interests. But, I totally disagree with the "free loader" mindset that seems to be here. By that standard, we're all "free loaders", in one way or another. </passionate biz dev rant> |
