Show Don't Tell ..

Well, it seems I am having a problem in my story. I want to write in first person present tense. It just seems so hard, or maybe I don't get it. I read I have to avoid -ing, is and are verbs that indicates passive voice.

So now, can anyone give me a few examples

Active voice
First person Present tense


I am eating at Roxi's.

I thought this would be action, and first person and present tenste
From what I am reading - it is not.active.

I always eat at Roxi's. -- I guess this might

----------------------------

I'm just babbling at this point - - I am confused though. ... HELP !! LoL!!
