The second option would be the one you want, if you're not using a Group item to control who can collect the trinket. The item is specified in the second option when creating the Trinket, but who can access the item (and how) is not. That is controlled within the item itself, rather than in the Trinket. To control access to that item, you can set the item's access restrictions to Private and use a passkey (and change the passkey at any time), or you would still be able at any point to set the item's access restrictions to a Group-only setting. Access to the item can be changed as you wish without invalidating the Trinket's settings, as long as the specified collection item continues to exist. I'm not seeing an error for creating/previewing a Trinket in the log. I think the preview has some local error messages if things aren't correct. If you entered the item ID number correctly -- just the digits, no spaces, no # at the front --- the preview should show you a link to the item you want to use as a collection point. If it showed an invalid item message instead of the link, or if it showed something garbled, it was probably the wrong input in that field. Hope that helps.
