I am interested in writing flash fiction stories. My question is how much does conflict play in writing flash fiction? I have been taught that a well written story involves (1) Conflict (2) Action (3) Resolution, plus emotion and showing instead of telling. A lot of the flash fiction stories I read don't contain conflict, no obstacles or tension, just a feel good story that touches the reader's emotions. So, I guess my question is due to the length of flash (contest on this site is limited to 300 words) do you still try to use conflict, action, and resolution. Thanks for your comments and I would appreciate any tips, suggestions and books that have helped you.
