Where else can you find three horror novellas glorifying the bygone days of horror movie drive-in, complete with an introduction by Don Coscarelli, and nods to Fangoria and Joe Bob Briggs in one place?
So far in, it's one of the wildest books I have read this side of David Wong's "John Dies at the End" (if you thought that book was crazy, then the third book in the maniacal trilogy, "What the Hell Did I Just Read", may be up your alley).
As far as Joe R Landsdale goes, outside of hearing of Hap and Leonard, I do not know much about Mr. Landsdale, but the more I read of The Drive-In the more, and discovering he has an array of novels out, I wonder where was I all these years? In any case, anyone looking for a great escapism novel that is equal measure horror and comedy, with a dash of drama, one would do no wrong by giving this a try. (That is, of course, if horror is not your cup of tea, or you would rather not spend time reading about people melting by blob-like gelatinous cubes that have entrapped a drive-in's worth of moviegoers...)
