Hi, zarkianmouse! I'm 53, and I just started taking my own writing seriously in the last few years (a little late I might add, but it's never too late). And I've managed to have a few short pieces published so far. You, my friend, are only 21! You still have your whole life to make your dream(s) come true! There's no time like the present to start, so please don't say 'I wish I had that chance'! You still have that chance, so get started NOW! I only wish I was your age! I kick myself in the head for wasting all those years and throwing away all those stores I wrote! Believe it or not, some of them weren't too bad. I can tell you already know what it means to be an author by what you said about what you've read. So I'll leave off here by saying: Don't EVER throw away ANYTHING you write! Now start banging on that keyboard and make your dreams come true! PLEASE!
