Hi, how are you? I need your help, please. There's a short I wrote a long time ago, "A Stir in Sin City", for fun, and I received many positive feedbacks from my pupils (I'm a part-time English tutor). They ask me if I have any new developments every week, so I decided to turn the story into a sci-fi novel, but I am stuck on the world-building stage. This is the general idea: It's north America after the fall of the president. Democracy is falling apart. Two boys from New York, Chad and Eric, lost their families to gangsters and now they are looking for a place to live. They are about 14-15 years old. Gangs rule in most cities, and the gangs fight each other. When a gang tried to gain land of another gand and loses, they have to move away for a year. The world is like a violent playground for gangs. The police was terminated, but the FBI works undercover. I also have a girl, Scarlet, who lost her entire family, too, and pretends to be a boy. Small children are forced to do jobs for gangs. I'd appreciate any help in building more detail to the general world, like: 1) What do they do in weekends? 2) Where do rich people live? 3) How do you get accepted to gangs? (Chad and Eric are going to work undercover for the FBI) 4) Is there any gang-free city? Sorry for the long post, but I'd really appreciate help. I write adventure, romance and short stories. I love Agatha Christie and Judith McNaught. |
