Thanks Tobber and Zen :D I'm fully aware that the marketing efforts largely lie on the author regardless of publishing route, but with a publisher backing you you have the power to get the book into physical stores in ways that are a lot more challenging if you do it all yourself. As part of an agency, you have a support team.
My question isn't about which route is better or what the pros and cons are. My question is if one rules out the other :)
