Hi folks,

Christmas time is writing time, so what do you say we have a mini contest, a flash fiction contest?

The rules are pretty simple.

1) You submit a story by linking to it in a reply in this thread or posting it directly into a reply (keep forum rating in mind if you post directly).

2) Max word count is 1.000 words and must be stated in the post or the story.

3) The story has to be speculative (science fiction or fantasy) of any kind.

4) There's no prompt or theme and it doesn't have to be a new story, so show me the best you can do.

5) The deadline is January 4th because that should be plenty of time to write a thousand words even if you have family obligation all through the holidays.

The rewards are a merit badge to the best story (if there's at least two entries) and other entries I feel deserve it.

Also, I'm going to give in depth, honest reviews to all entries. Though, my reviews can be harsh, so if you don't want that kind of feedback on your story, please state so in your entry post.
