I grew up in Richfield, Idaho. It's a town that most people in Idaho have never heard of. It's not the smallest town here, but it's still really small. I don't remember what the population sign says, but it's less than 500 people. There's a school (K-12 in one building), a store, two bars, a post office, a library, and a factory that used to make cheese, but now specializes in whey products. We have no gas station or bank or any of those things that would make living here convenient. It's legal to have cows, sheep, horses, chickens or whatever else you want on your property...even if you live in town. The bars in this county are allowed to serve alcohol until 2 AM on Friday and Saturday nights...most other places in Idaho have to stop at 1 AM. Hmmm, what else? Ernest Hemmingway used to stop at a little hardware store in my town (that building is now one of the two bars), and buy guns. He liked to hunt, and in his older years lived in the Sun Valley area. Years ago, a film crew came and filmed part of a movie about Ernest Hemingway in my town...but I was told they didn't use any of it in the finished film. If you've seen the movie, Breakfast of Champions, you've seen a tiny glimpse of my town, unless you blinked and missed it. There's a shot where a character is walking down a sidewalk...it's sort of a bird's eye view kind of shot. It lasts just a few seconds. That was filmed here as well, on the sidewalk by the old Paulson Motor Company building. It took them three days to shoot it. There are a LOT of Mormons here. And that's about all I can think of about this place...
