Question about mapping out locations within a story....
Hey everyone! I just wanted to come on here and ask around about how each of you handles mapping within your stories...? How do you map out everything as small as a dungeon, cave or tavern to cities, castles, and even entire landscapes? Do you whip out some graph paper and plan outlines for each specific location? Or do you have other means to help with plotting out your locales?

I mentioned in my last thread about some AD&D software that I use for character creation and development. That same program also has a very convenient mapping feature, which provides the means for me to easily create entire blueprints of just about every location I can think of. Also, I am in the process of buying some new software that will streamline the mapping process and be more accessible and user-friendly. I can make just about anything I can imagine. It’s so wonderful!

Also, if it would help, I have found a great website that will help with charting and plotting, offering both user-made examples of locations big and small as well as a place for you to post your map work and give inspiration to others. The website is:

https://www.cartographersguild.com/content.php

Anyway, any insight or examples of how you guys handle mapping with your writing are more than welcome. I am very interested in giving advice as well as taking suggestions.
