Every X number of years I did an egg hunt for whoever is in my life. I haven't done it in a long time. The funny thing is it's like giving flowers to a man, people go all eeeww than love it. It's not the candy so much as the puzzle. The candy basket thing I'm far less interested in. I did the basket and fake grass thing for roommates one year, they were just full of weird foods -- we had a great time cooking and trying everything. Eating candy is just stuffing your face with unhealthy. Another time I put together a collection of vaguely egg-shaped rocks and put them in a basket for my Mother -- she still had it when she died. The commercial marketing part of Easter is so unimaginative. How about ingredients to baking or making some age-appropriate thing together with the kids? Start a tradition with each year being a different cookie. Something that lasts well beyond stuffing faces. Oh well, me and my soapbox.
