If you create your item with the default access restrictions, anyone on the internet can see it. They don't have to be logged in. However, a publishing magazine is likely to consider that previously e-published. If you open the Advanced section of the create/edit page of the item, and change the default access restriction to something more restrictive, visitors to the site will not be able to access it UNLESS 1) you set a Passkey for it and 2) sent the particular visitor that passkey AND the URL of the page. To not be considered previously e-published by the magazine editor, you're probably going to need to use the Private access restriction for the item. Private items do not show view counts, however, so if monitoring views from outside is important, you'd need to create a Group item with only yourself as a member, and set the item to be viewed to Group-only for that Group item. The Group item can be set to the default access restriction if the magazine editor wants to see that you're the only one who has access, or you can set the same passkey for the Group item with a non-default access restriction. See Passkeys from Writing.Com 101 and "Note: [Image #506157] For the 5th day of our 18..." for information about passkeys. Upgraded+ membership required. Hope that helps.
