side note: if you're using a self-publishing company, then you aren't really doing the publishing yourself, are you? SelfPub means you do everything yourself. There are scenarioes (even recommended) where you outsource cover design and editing. But the rest. You. There are Publishing Services companies which will handle the various steps to publish, but it's best to keep your head in the game and be the self-publisher and they are the contractor. Not a Self Publishing Company as that way smells like Vanity Press. To Zen's points on Author Platform, I give you my blog series (pretty much complete at this point): https://www.klforslund.com/authorplatform This is step by step how I built mine so it's ready by the time I need it. That includes the social media stuff. Chuck Sambuchino wrote book on the subject. I read it. I did it. For how to self-pub a book, a local author I know wrote this to document how he did it: https://www.amazon.com/Steps-Self-Publishing-Book-Mike-Kowis-ebook/dp/B06WD5J86W... In any event, though I don't specifically blog about writing, I do document what I do so it helps others. Which is great material for answering questions like this one, and further building my Author Platform. :) |
