Noticing Newbies

It's been two weeks since I've registered, and although I am still overwhelmed by the complexity of this world (Awardicons? BidClick? Merit Bages? Handle? Costumicons? Wow, even an instant messenger!), I'm also blown away by how welcoming this community is. When I threw in my first story, I expected it to rot away the way any digital word on the internet does. Instead, people found it, read it, and provided valuable, in-depth feedback. Did I trigger some mechanisms, another feature of this site I'm not aware of yet? Is this the beginner's luck? This has never happened to me on other platforms. Thank you, WdC, I will try to return the favour.

I don't consider myself a writer, but sometimes stories find me, demanding to be written down, and I try to do my best by them. The ones I present here are from a collection of independent short stories revolving around a single conversation between two sometimes random characters. I've classified it as sci-fi, but it's just an approximation: some are set in the future, and some could have happened a decade ago; some involve yet impossible technology, and others only incorporate a scientific concept. All of them explore human nature and investigate the human mind. I tend to give subtle clues, play with ambiguity and leave open endings. I struggle with language, though, and I would welcome any help you could offer me.
