I write a lot of different kinds of fiction as well as running a Pathfinder RPG game for teens. I've found that building character sheets for major characters and NPC blocks for minor characters really helps me visualize what kind of person that character is. I highly recommend World Anvil for worldbuilding, incidentally. They have the best tools.
