A thumbdrive is less likely to be stolen than your wallet. Yes there are better options, as you suggest, including one of the keysafe services that area available, but I was merely pointing out a simple method that most non-technical folk could grasp. More importantly, it is a lot safer than using misspelt words and dates of birth or storing these files on your hard drive.
