Noticing Newbies

Greetings!

My name is Joel Järvinen and I am a Swedish aspiring author with Finnish ancestry. I live two hours south of our capital Stockholm, in a town of roughly 130 000 inhabitants called Linköping (hometown of rock band Ghost, if anybody cares), where I am currently studying for a master's degree in theoretical physics. My main interests are quantum mechanics, particle physics and cosmology. Of course, this all seeps into my writing. I also play keyboards in a couple of different bands of varying genres such as prog rock, black metal, reggae, and psych-pop.

I have been working on a science/fantasy story with hints of metaphysics and philosophy (maybe even some theology) for a while now. My writing style is inspired mostly by story-focused, text-heavy computer role-playing games such as Planescape: Torment, Pillars Of Eternity, Tides Of Numenera. et.al. since I haven't actually read much fantasy (the Witcher series are great, though) and even less sci-fi. I am also inspired by surrealism, existentialism, the nature of reality and consciousness; well, you get the gist of it. Oh, and David Lynch.

I have published the two first chapters of my WIP, called "SHARD", on this site and would appreciate feedback of any kind. Preferably harsh feedback, honestly! I plan to hang around this community a lot, I have been searching for a while now and this one finally made a good enough impression on me.
