I've been submitting short fiction to magazines and online fiction sites, and I have one story I'm working on that I would like to submit when finished. I've been finding outlets to send my stuff to by sorting through markets by accepted genres, word lengths etc., on the Submission Grinder. The problem is, I don't really know what genre would be appropriate for this story, and was hoping for some advice.
The story follows a husband and wife as they try to get by after some unnamed apocalyptic event. Most of the story takes place with just the two of them alone in a cabin in the woods, foraging for food and trying to survive day-to-day.
The genres you can choose from on the Submission Grinder are as follows:
Action/Adventure
Erotica
Fantasy
General
Horror
Humor
Literary
Mystery/Crime
Romance
Science Fiction
Suspense/Thriller
Western
Young Adult
None of these seems to quite fit, but they're all I have to choose from.
