Closing a create window does not save anything on the site. Until you (successfully) save the text as an item, chapter, post, whatever, it doesn't exist on the site, and there is no ID number. There is no way to retrieve what wasn't there in the first place.

Sometimes the browser will remember, and sometimes not. That's very browser and circumstances dependent. About all you can do in this situation is check your recently closed history in your browser menu as soon as possible, and hope you're lucky.
