Your points are well-taken and correct. People can be fully clothed and the scene can still be erotic. I should be more clear. Erotic can be a intimate massage; no sex, only the touching that creates a deep desire. Tantric sex can be what is sometimes described as the afterglow of a loving sexual encounter. While the sex has ended, the emotions, closeness, and intimacy continues for the couple.

What I'm referring to is writing, or describing a scene as romantic or erotica; not erotic. Romance writing, I think, is where the couple enters the bedroom and then shuts the door on the reader. Erotica writing usually invites the reader into the bedroom and shows in either small or large detail what is happening. For me, there is a difference between something that is erotic and something written in an erotica genre.
