This is the reason: Collection limited to Preferred Author and higher
stolenthrones is a Registered Author with a black case.

You don't need to retire the Trinket. You can continue using that Trinket to thank reviewers with a colored case.
It won't work for anyone with a black or grey case.

Well, if Rookie Tea saves the email, and if they are eventually chosen to become a Preferred Author, they could go back to the email then, and collecting it would work. Assuming it hasn't been retired or all the copies used before then.

What you need to remember is not to PREVIEW the email and not to save it as a DRAFT. Looking at the create page of the email is fine.
