Old school Technique was to actually mail a copy to yourself so that you had to sign for it. You would receive the package, sign for it but not open it. If you ever had to go to court to prove ownership you produce your package - with the postal tag on it (Dated) and open it in court.
If their date of publication does not pre-date your package then they have a problem.
Of course, today you can prove ownership in other online ways. Nothing happens though,
like was said, unless you contact them to declare ownership.
