While I have a writing desk where I do most of my writing, I live a 10 minute walk from the beach, and there is often nothing better than sitting under the shelter down there and writing, especially when it's pouring rain outside and the water is choppy and the wind just sings to rejuvenate a stale feeling story.

I have also been known to write at night in a local pub. As a local, people know what I do, and they leave me alone to write; some even make sure my drink is kept full.

So, yes, different ambiences make the writing work so well.
