I've been stuck in a story I started some time ago with a medical problem. My character is a young man, in the 1960s, who is trying to find someone who will perform a vasectomy. Like today, birth control for men in the 60s was practically unavailable. In the early 70s, living in Texas, I had to have already fathered at least 2 children, get my wife's written permission and she had to accompany me to the procedure, and I had to sit through a childish presentation from a nurse about the reversibility/permanence of the procedure. My character is 16, unmarried, and can go anywhere in the US where the procedure is available.
