Breaking the Iceberg
As a writer, do you get tired of hearing "write what you know"? Do you ever feel like throwing up your hands and saying, "But what I know is boring! I'd rather just make stuff up!"

Do you know someone who's a great storyteller, someone who can relate the most mundane events and yet have all their listeners howling with laughter?

Your first "assignment" is to tell a tale from your own, real-life experience - but embellish it. Exaggerate. Make it larger and more outrageous than life. (Here's my own example: "Invalid Item - every word of this is true, mind you!)

If that's not enough, you can start with the phrase, "A funny thing happened yesterday on aisle 13..."

Have fun!
