REGISTRATION for Winter 2019 Term Is OPEN!

Welcome to the Winter 2019 Term here at New Horizons Academy. Our great staff of instructors has a strong line-up of excellent courses for you to choose from this term. We're thrilled you've chosen to further your writing skills and career with us this term.

Please read the all following information carefully
BEFORE you register for your course.

Course Registration Requirements and Information

To qualify for any of our courses we ask that you be at least 18 years old. Younger students, please contact our Head Administrator, Katzendragonz

for an evaluation, before registering for classes.

We're sorry, but New Horizons Academy does not accept students under the age of sixteen.

You should have at least a Basic level membership throughout the entire term in order to participate in New Horizons Academy courses. Free memberships do not provide enough space or allow the creation of the folders needed to complete the course work for most of our courses. A Basic Membership is only about $10 for a three month period. Go to "The Writing.Com Shop" to learn more and/or to purchase a paid membership. There are also several groups here on Writing.Com that can help with membership upgrades.

Please Note: If you only have a free membership and cannot get an upgrade to Basic, please contact the course instructor to make arrangements for posting and storing your course work before registering for your class.

Be sure you know how to navigate the WdC site, create static items, post in forums, etc. If you are unfamiliar with all of the functions and formatting on Writing.Com there are several organizations and groups here on WdC that can help you learn more about the site and how to do everything here. Course Registration Instructions

To Register: Please fill out the survey form at the bottom of this page. Click on the dot next to Please register me for this course under the name of the course you want to take.

Be sure you only check the one or two courses you want to take this term. Selecting too many courses will delay your registration and could result in you not making it into a course you want.

We allow a maximum of two (2) course selections per term per student.

Some of our courses have prerequisites for admission. If you have not met those listed prerequisites, please contact the course instructor for approval before registering.

Registration information will come to you from Katzendragonz

our Head Administrator. Questions regarding your registration should be directed to her.

After registration and before classes begin, if you realize you cannot participate in the course(s) you selected, contact our Head Administrator, Katzendragonz

, to remove yourself from your course(s). A portion of your gift points (Your tuition payment less the WdC 5% survey charge) will be refunded upon your request.

After classes begin—up to two weeks into the course—if you need to drop your course(s), you may receive a refund of fifty percent (50%) of your tuition payment upon request. Contact our Head Administrator, Katzendragonz

, for a refund. Courses dropped—for any reason—after the first two weeks of the term are not refunded.

Winter Term officially opens January 14, 2019; however, your course may have a different "start" date. Please pay close attention to the information provided by your instructor(s) for your registered courses.

Tuition Fees

The fee for each course is 10,000 Gift Points (GPs)

New Horizons Academy offers partial scholarships (up to one half the cost of one course) for those unable to meet full tuition costs. Contact our Head Administrator, Katzendragonz

, to apply for a scholarship.

Please submit the appropriate number of GPs for your selections at the bottom of the survey form after you choose your courses. Tuition fees must accompany your registration survey in order to complete your registration.

New Horizons Academy Administration reserves the right to
refuse admission to any individual with or without explanation.

6. COMMA SENSE

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL THIS CLASS IS CANCELED FOR WINTER 2019 TERM

COMMAS ARE ESSENTIAL TO YOUR READERS' UNDERSTANDING OF YOUR MESSAGE. In this challenging and enjoyable class, you will master the most commonly used (and abused) punctuation mark in the English language and grow in your understanding of English grammar.

7. THE GRAMMAR GARDEN

The material focuses on an in-depth examination of nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions and prepositional phrases, and interjections. Each lesson includes definitions of the components, example sentences, and teaches the student the practical application of each term listed above.

8. THE EXPLORATORY WRITING WORKSHOP

For experienced writers looking to start writing longer works such as a novel or novella. This course is taught in a workshop environment.
