Suggest a prompt for "The Stake & Garlic Vampire Contest!


We want you to help us come up with prompts for "The Stake & Garlic Vampire Contest. Let us know what kind of vampire stories you like reading and writing. There are no promises we'll use your idea, but if we do, you'll get credit at the top of "The Stake & Garlic Vampire Contest forum for that month. Plus, if your prompt is chosen and it inspires more submissions than any other prompt has in the history of Stake & Garlic, I'll give you the Merit Badge for creativity. (Currently, your prompt, if chosen, would have to inspire more than 28 qualifying submissions to earn you the Merit Badge.)

Here are prompts that have already been done:

April 2002: Write a story describing how a certain vampire trait came to be.

May 2002: Write a story about people seeking to become vampires.

June 2002: Write a story about a vampire who becomes human.

July 2002: Write a story about a vampire gaining independence from his or her creator.

August 2002: Write a story about a vampire trapped on a deserted island.

September 2002: Write a story about a vampire dying a particularly gruesome or tragic death.

October 2002: Write a story about a group of activists fighting for vampires' rights.

November 2002: Write a story in which vampirism is explained scientifically or as something that is natural.

December 2002: Write a fairy tale about vampires.

January 2003: Write a story about the child of a vampire and another fictional creature.

February 2003: A vampire falls in love with a mortal, but doesn't turn the mortal. Write a story about the day this mortal dies and how the vampire deals with the loss.

March 2003: Write a story about a vampire having to keep a steady job.

April 2003: Write a story about a vampire trying to convince his/her victim to let him/her into the victim's home.

May 2003: Write a story about what preys on vampires.

June 2003: Select any type of vampire except Nosferatu from the list provided on the following link, and write a story about that vampire.

July 2003: Write a story about a vampire with a disability.

August 2003: Write a nonfiction article that lists the reasons for which you believe a famous person or character from a well-known book or film is a vampire.

September 2003: Write a story about some unsuspecting children who figure out that all their relatives are vampires.

October 2003: Write a story about how the very first vampire came to be.

November 2003: Write a story about a human who tries to prove that vampires exist.

December 2003: Write a story in which a vampire is the hero.

January 2004: Write a story wherein a character becomes a vampire in a way other than by being bitten.

February 2004: Write a story about the evilest vampire ever.

March 2004: Write a story in which vampires outnumber humans.

April 2004: Write a story in which a person must be bitten three times in order to become a vampire.

May 2004: Write a story in which a vampire tries to "stay on the wagon."

June 2004: Write a story about a social historian who meets a vampire, and interviews the vampire as a witness to history.

July 2004: Write a story about a metaphorical vampire.

August 2004: Create a piece of vampire-related poetry, non-fiction, or visual art.

September 2004: Write a story about a vampire who wishes to marry either a human or another vampire, but can't because of some law that forbids it.

February 2005: Erotic vampire stories.

March 2005: Stories about resurrections.

April 2005: Stories about vampires obsessed with the Internet.

June 2005: Stories about real vampires who encounter fake vampires.


In the event that two or more people submit the same idea, the first person who submitted the idea will get the credit.
