Mt. Baker taken during haying

blank Banner

I am a seventy year old widow now in a relationship and living in Concrete, Washington. I am an ex motorcycle rider.(passenger)*Bigsmile* I love the outdoors and took many scenic motor cycle trips on the back of my partner's cycle. I am surrounded by mountains where I live. Mt. Baker looms behind my home. It is breathtakingly beautiful and covered in snow all year round. The photo here is of a neighbor haying in the pasture across the road from my home. Beautiful Mt. Baker is in the background.

Living in Skagit County offers excellent access to the North Cascade Mountain Range. Not far from my home is Highway 20 which goes directly east over the North Cascade Mountain Pass and into the arid country of Eastern Washington.

Not that far west of me are fertile farmlands in the Skagit Valley, which include many bountiful tulip and daffodil fields. People from all over the world come to marvel at these vast fields of vibrant flowers that bloom every spring. Venture south on I-5 and you will find Seattle and the Greater Puget Sound area. The vast waters of the Sound boast the large fleet of Washington State Ferries. The largest Ferry System in the United States. A jaunt just north and you are in Anacortes where you will find ferry rides up into the San Juan islands and Canada.

I feel very fortunate to be able to live in such an expansive wonderland of nature and adventure!

I did my very first mountain climb up steep switchbacks on Sauk Mountain in September, 2006. I can actually see this mountain right off my front deck.

I have enjoyed reading just about everything since childhood. I was raised in a family of seven siblings in and around Flint, Michigan. I graduated Montrose High School in 1962 and came west for adventure. I met and married my late husband in Gig Harbor, Washington. I raised five children with him and began writing poetry after my children were born. I lost a thirty year old son in 1997. Then three years later my spouse of thirty six years succumbed to heart failure.

Since retirement, I have found a new inspiration and pleasure in my writings - Writing.Com! It has become a favorite pastime of mine.*Heart* Some of my writings reflect my love for the natural beauty that surrounds me.

Of course my first love is my family. My children and most of my grandchildren live in Port Orchard, Washington. It is always a pleasure to visit them and to have them visit me.
