A novel, including but not limited to, drama, comedy, romance,& dirt track oval racing
Geoff Holtan was salt of the earth. He was quite possibly the nicest person anyone had ever met. And though he was doomed to a boring life with a fiance who dominated him, an average job, and no family to speak of, he was perfectly happy. Until a childhood memory and a winning lottery ticket brought out the best in him, and the worst of others around him. It would have been easy for him to give the money to charity. Perhaps he could buy a house and settle down. He very well could have, had it not been for a salty, mean-spirited hermit who teaches him how to live without regret, and to never give up on what dreams one's heart and mind creates. It turned out, Geoff had an addiction he re-discovered, an expensive one, although it meant a whole new way of life, it was the best addiction to give into. The dirt called to him. And the roar of the engines, the sweet scent of the racing fuel, and the feel of dirt splashing on his skin, made all of his cares vanish in the vapor trails the powerful machines left behind. There was no world outside it. And though people couldn't understand, they didn't need to. He was part of the best kept secret in America. The place where people gathered to drink in the atmosphere and increase their heartbeat, the place where the modifieds, his favorite car, screamed around the oval in the Pennsylvania countryside. All he had to do was build his machine, to watch his dreams come to life. He finds new love, new life, and new hope. God gives back what he takes from us. He doesn't always do it in a way we understand, or a time frame we like. We just have to take out the interference to see it. This is Geoff's discovery, this was his true heart's desire, to live a life more slideways.

: "Robbery, that's what I call it. It's self-robbery. What scares me most, is that cheating yourself doesn't seem to frighten you at all Geoff. Don't ever be okay with contentment. Content people end up with nothing on the headstone." Wally Fedorczak

: "You just spent two thousand dollars on a tool cabinet with a refrigerator and a stereo inside. I'd be more confident in your so called project if you'd actually purchased a tool of any kind. Not that you'd even know how to use them." Tony Nemec.

: "Son, you got no idea how greedy racing is. It'll eat up your time, your money, your friends and your piece of mind. I've never had much more than a dime to my name, and since you finally do, it would make me happy if you kept it." Bob Holtan
