"When Liam and Ruby make their arrangement permanent, we can sort the paperwork out with Gemma." Emma told Liz 2. She was referring to the HR rep who made regular visits to the store. Liz 2 nodded in response.
"Wow!" Natalie told them both. "I can't believe you fell for that bullshit. Liam is twisting you round his little finger." Emma shook her head.
"Actually, I'm inclined to believe him, err, her, err, them." She turned to Liz 2. "That will take some getting used to." She turned back to Natalie. "We promised you a demonstration, didn't we?" She pointed at the door. "Get the door Liz, we don't need everyone knowing about this."
Liz 2 walked round and closed the door. Emma put her two open palms out over her desk. "Okay Natalie, take your pick." She said to her supervisor.
"What?" A confused Natalie asked.
"Take an item. Try it out and you'll know we weren't talking rubbish." Natalie was still sceptical but looked over the items anyway. Her attention was almost immediately drawn to one them. She picked it up.
The item was a solid metal cuff bracelet. It was quite wide, about an inch across. Looking at the way it reflected the light, it appeared to be made of copper. Inset on the top were two large green gems.
"That's pretty." Liz 2 said. "There should be a label on it somewhere that shows you what it does." Natalie turned the bracelet over in her hand. She could see the label underneath. She examined it. There was a stick figure scrawled on it. The rest of the label was smudged, probably from a sweaty wrist rubbing against it.
"What does it mean?" Natalie asked as she showed the label to Liz 2. She was unable to decipher it either.
"I'm not sure." Liz 2 said.
"There's one way to find out." Emma told them. "Put it on luv."
Natalie thought it was nonsense of course. There was no such thing as magic, was there? Her own doubts and her manager's intense stares started making her feel nervous. She took a deep breath. "It's just a bracelet." She said as she pressed it on to her wrist.
Instantly she turned into a blur of red and black. The bracelet made her :-
