Here's the tall and the short of it:

If you pick shrinking, the character can become as small as you want. Baby doll size; Barbie doll size; heck, if you think you can tell a halfway decent story about a girl the size of a paramecium, I say go for it.

If you pick giantess, I've capped the height at sixty feet. The reason for that is, above that size, regular people get hard to see; and we really can't keep her a gentle giantess if she's crushing people underfoot with every step she takes.
