The other side of pride
Pure Pride
A feeling not always worth the time
The lungs inhale
Exhale
Yet the air is stale
Your life in limbo
As you peer through the window
Pushing still every now and then
Pasting on a smile almost genuine
Ambitions become sedated
Everything once important evaded
Little pride is left to hold
Legs pumping chasing gold
Pure pride many may not know
Turns you into your own foe
And although cruel
You crave the feeling in every atom of you
A dose of joy so potent
Though only there for a moment
Your left chasing after it like a fiend
Longing for that rush you once achieved
