Yay! I'm back! I had to do a little rereading on KoS, but I'm back up to speed! Let us begin!

Paloo watched his mother responding to his friends. He hated to see such deep lines in her face and the roughness of her hands.
- Done well at expressing what Paloo is noticing of his mother, after all this time!

"Jonn, how are you? I hope you're more at peace being up here?"
- John left after his interaction with the Enforcers (a close call, at that). What makes Paloo think that John hasn't already filled his mom in on the horrors of the city?

Jonn took a step forward, fists clinched at his sides. "He has no right to bring outsiders here!"
- My, you've given him a hard-head all right!

Without warning, Jonn recoiled, striking Harry across the face. He screamed, "Get away from me you spawn of God knows what!"
- Why is John so violent in this? I know he's stubborn and emotional and he's had a hard time in the city when he was working with Paloo and Brezay at the time, but enough to hit Harry? This seems a bit much!

With a hateful look to Paloo, he turned away, muttering to himself, "Your God of Light is a damn bloody curse on all of us."
- Does John not like Harry because of his interaction with the Enforcers? Shouldn't he know that he's not one of them? A bit indiscriminate, I might say.

"You're different, son. I see how much you've changed into a man. I'm very proud of you."
- Is this the first time Paloo has returned to the Thumb since he first left to sell the horses with John?

And he had to look away when he told her that King Rudegund iwas dead. He gave silent thanks that Hargrove did not mention Minister Jorland or the Enforcers.
- Why was this said so reluctantly? The Thumb is a distance away from the capital or any major city, which makes me wonder why Paloo's mom would be worried about the politics of Carfane? Is it sensitive because of the Enforcers that had assaulted John?

Everyone could see that Paloo here is the exact image of his great grandfather.
- This almost begs the question: the mural on the wall couldn't possibly be the only thing left with the faces of the previous kings on it? If Harry and Hargrove and Brezay saw the facial similarities between the Tesas and Paloo, couldn't anyone see that?

"Sambe, pull out the old brown trunk by my bed. It's under all the quilts."
- This seems kind of cliche and not well-hidden. I don't know what the Enforcers would do if they ever got to the Thumb and interrogated Paloo's mother, but wouldn't they search the place for any information? The bottom of the trunk with quilts covering it seems predictable. And what if the house burned down? So would their proof!

Paloo realized they both were trembling from the stress of the moment.
- How so? Legs turned to jelly? Shaky hands? Flushed cheeks?

"It is signed by the King, the Queen, and the Chief Priest of the Church of God's Light in Narvian."
- Playing devil's advocate, those signatures are from political figures that have since been killed or have died? And what are the chances that an enemy government would recognize them?

Hargove, in his deepest voice of command, said, "I Hargrove, Master Knight of God's Light, do swear and proclaim my fealty and life-long loyalty to Paloo Denari Tesa, Rightful King and Heir to the Royal family of the Blood Kings of Narvian and the Church of God's Light." As he spoke the others sank to their knees, their heads bowed, except Mayseen who continued to weep with great racking sobs.
- This is very emotional for me. Well done!

My Lord, you are about to reclaim your rights and no one will be able to stop you.
- I like the use of "My Lord" now. Adds to the legitimacy!

"But what about Ludger and Belline? I can't---"
- Oh yes, this will be interesting...

"We know, Paloo, My Lord," Harry said with a grin. "We are the invisible Sparrows, and you are doubly hidden."
- Knights of Sparrows, it makes sense now...sort of??? ...where did the Sparrows come from?

"Are we going to talk about Eleanor and New Godsland? I think Paloo could make a huge difference with the situation over there."
- The last we have heard about Eleanor and New Godsland was when Rudegund IV was demanding answers from WIlliam Bettencourt, and before then, when Eleanor was not allowed to leave. When will we get back to them? I know I've said this is previous reviews, but this is a lot of time to go by, leaving those characters alone to your readers' imaginations.

"I think..." Ludger hesitated, and rubbed his face. "I think we should put this young man into a chair and let's collect ourselves to hear what Master Hargrove has to say."
- That hesitation should mean a LOT to Ludger. The Tesas are rightful kings of Carfane, unlike Rudegund IV. How does he feel about this, I wonder.

When the letter came to my father about Eleanor, the Leader of New Godsland wrote that my sister's child would be guided and protected by 'hidden Tesa blood' and the devoted forces of New Godsland and sacred Narvian. We were all confused by that. Now it's beginning to make sense."
- Is this suggesting that New Godsland was aware of a hidden Tesa?

I feel that an entire new force is being born here
- Yes, indeed one is.

Ludger offered his hand to shake.
- To make this more powerful, make this a separate paragraph.

Very exciting. I'm glad to be back in the KoS world!
