Soul Wind [E] An ethereal reflection of a horse's spirit. |
HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" Hello, GypsySpirit Happy 2nd WDC Anniversary! How are you doing today? I'm working on reviewing different genres for "Invalid Item" and stumbled upon your item, "Soul Wind" . I hope this review finds you well! Thanks for sharing your writing with us. General Thoughts: I think ethereal was the perfect way to describe this poem, as you did in the description. I chose to read this one because the title stood out to me. "Soul Wind" is an interesting, descriptive take on the spirit of a horse. This is one of those poems that reminds me of a painting because the imagery and general atmosphere of it are so awakening to the senses. I loved the way you played with alliteration throughout the poem. stirring stardust/floating fragments. There was definitely a dreamlike element to the imagery and it read like a dream that way. I think that's what you were going for when writing this, so I count that as a big success! Even the line breaks added to the ethereal tone. Suggestions: I didn't notice much that needed correction in this poem. I thought the use of ellipses as the only punctuation worked well in the poem and there weren't any spelling errors to speak of. I do wish that the reflection of the first two lines had been in the last two lines of the poem instead of the fourth and third from last. I just like the direct symmetry there if you're going to reflect back so close to the end anyway. Conclusion: Overall, I enjoyed reading this poem. It had a specific mood and tone that felt like reading someone's dream. The imagery was great and I enjoyed the poetic devices, like alliteration, used throughout. Thanks again for sharing with us!
