Spookiest Newsfeed of the Year

In the left sidebar, where it gives you links to your Portfolio, My Account, Email, you will find Newsfeed as the fourth option from the top. The Newsfeed is a lively place where many members post updates about their writing, about themselves, or link to activities they are hosting. Aside from highlighting things around the site, the Newsfeed itself is also a play zone.

This October, the Newsfeed has become the premier play area for all things spooky. When you click on the Newsfeed link in the left sidebar, it will take you to your Personal Newsfeed. Right above the newest entry, there is a link that offers you to switch it to Community Newsfeed. When you choose that option, you can see everything that was posted there by anyone in the community.

Each time you log on to the site, go on and check out the Community Newsfeed. You will be surprised at the many fun updates you can read about there.
Not only that, you can find important previews for things to come like this one: "Note: *Pumpkin2* Coming October 31st *^*Pumpkin2...".
Or you can find games to play right away like this one "Note: It's been a while since I've given one...".
Some notes simply give you an opportunity to discover some trinkets that you didn't already have. "Note: get it here: [Link To Item #2099917] ..."

Writing.Com is always a fun place to be, but in fall we really crank it up a notch. First we party for seven days straight in September, then we go right into Octobuuurrr and try to find the most fun ways to celebrate the best holiday ever invented. So go on, get your spook on over in the newsfeed. What have you got to lose aside from life and limb? *Pumpkin2*

Ask & Answer

I received the following replies to my last Horror/Scary newsletter "Real Fear

Shannon wrote: Thank you so much for featuring my short story "Sister Justice [18+] in your newsletter, Aennaytte: Free & Wild in GoT! Sometimes it's fun to be a villain, even if you're only pretending to be. LOL

Quick-Quill wrote: Your question had me thinking. What defines {b]real fearto say fake fear? I take umbrage at your reference to the ghosts and goblins as not real fear because they aren't real. I'd like to say that real or not, fear is lack of control over a situation. Take someone to a warehouse or old house with little to no light and tie them up. Tell them they're a hostage until you get money. Now turn off all the lights and their ears, mind and what little bits of light flicker will instill fear. Real or not their mind will conjure every fearful scenario it can make up. Even the ones they swear aren't real. That's what Stephen King does. He takes the control out of people's hands and let's their mind take over. The Shining my favorite.
