Vacation!

I'm preparing to take a week off work next week! It feels strange to have a week off after having a few weeks off for the pandemic, but I've been so busy since work started up again that I need another break! This one will be planned, though, and luckily I won't be leaving the site at all! *Wink*

I think it's important to listen to yourself and to know when you need a break. Things can get overwhelming at any time, and it's good for your mental health to take a break if at all possible!

Taking a sudden (or even planned) break from a website can be a tricky thing, particularly if you're hosting a contest or activity. You don't want to suddenly disappear or be unreachable if at all possible! It can erode the trust others have in you and they might be less likely to participate in your contests or activities in the future. That being said, I think it is certainly repairable!

If you have to suddenly leave, if you can, leave a message in the forum or email participants to explain. You don't have to go into detail, but letting them know you'll be unavailable is helpful. If you know for how long, that's great, too, but don't give a date unless you're pretty sure you'll be back then.

Another simple way to signify an absence is to change your handle. You can add, "on vacation" or "on a break" or something similar. (To change your handle, click on "My Account" on the left in the list and then "Change your handle.")

Regardless, most likely members will understand. We've all needed a break from time to time. Try to get back when you can! *Smile*

As always, keep on writing! *Quill*
