  Here I am back as a guest editor for the mysterious newsletter! I wonder what it will be about? It is a mystery after all.

Mystery is even more Mysterious!
Is wondering part of mystery? Asking questions like why is the sky blue? Little kids ask questions all the time as they are in the wonder of the moment. Remember being in awe and wondering why and how? I think we still wonder today..in this changing world..with its confusing news items and goings on....every time we ask WHY?
It can drive me bonkers Not to know! 
Looking into Mystery I began with
 The origin of the word mystery:
In the 14 c. Middle English (in the sense ‘mystic presence, hidden religious symbolism’):
from Old French mistere or Latin mysterium, referring to art, trades and later mystery plays in medieval times, which were performed by the artisans and merchants. Other mystery plays were church stories.
and from Greek mustērion; related to mystic, and secret rites.
It had a more mystical and religious meaning and yet
From there other meanings have developed:
 Something that is difficult or impossible to understand or explain. Ah the mysteries of the universe! 
 Secrecy or obscurity. There are mystery shoppers, mystery callers, mystery plays,
 A person or thing whose identity or nature is puzzling or unknown. Don't you love that in a novel.. a character who keeps us guessing?
 A novel, play, or film dealing with a puzzling crime, especially a murder.
The secret rites of Greek and Roman pagan religion, or of any ancient or tribal religion, to which only initiates are admitted. Like the Eleusinian Mysteries! There are lots of sects around and even kids may have their own little clubhouses. 
The practices, skills, or information specific to a trade or activity and is considered baffling to those without specialized knowledge. Like rocket science is a mystery to me!
 I wonder how one could use all of these definitions/examples in a mystery story. 
 I found some words that could be synonyms for mystery:
enigma, riddle, cryptogram, conundrum, thriller, whodonit, and even question!

There is more to mystery than detective and crime! Have you ever written a mystery of another kind?
Remember if you ponder and you say "It's all Greek to me" and you are not Greek, you have met a mystery.

"I took the survey. I paused for a bit before making the decision. Why did Sherlock Holmes resonate with me more than AG's characters? I'm sorry to say the media plays a big part in my decision. While I have watched a few of her two detective's movies, I'm more drawn to the movies based on Sherlock. My decision comes from the fact Sherlock is more flawed. His addictions and anti-hero character make his revelations more dramatic. The little inspector and little old busybody don't connect with me as much as Holmes. Maybe why I like Dr. House and The Good Doctor. They are flawed yet come out our hero." {c}
