 Memes are another form of entertainment to make us laugh and have become a worldwide phenomenon.

Memes blasted on to the internet scene in 1976 and to this day, there are billions of them for our entertainment. Unfortunately, sixty percent of them are political. I say we band together and change that number to be seventy-five percent cat memes. The one posted above makes me laugh every time I read it. I’m sure we have our favorite memes. Cats, right?
If you do not know what a meme is, you’ve been missing out on some laughs. The dictionary meaning from Collins Dictionary describes it as an image or video that is spread widely on the internet, often altered by internet users for humorous effect. The word meme comes from the book, ‘The Selfish Gene’ written by, evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins where he coined the word meme . He used the word meme to describe an idea, behavior, or style that rapidly spreads from person to person in a culture. Fast forward to now, and memes are a worldwide phenomenon. Search for anything — even memes for the kitchen sink will pop-up.
There have been popular memes over the years like Success Kid, Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka called, Condescending Wonka, and of course, memes that have their own universe, cats. (You can find some of the above memes here: "Image Album" ) Since we’re on the topic of cats, a few years ago, I hosted a Comedy activity, and one of the tasks was to caption a photo in the style of a meme to make me laugh. The results were hilarious. The image I posted back then became a meme, and l had no idea the cat was famous. The cat’s name was Tombili from Istanbul, and people came from all over to snap selfies with him because he was always sat propped up on the sidewalk. He became so famous that when he passed away they made a statue of him for the sidewalk he always lounged on.
Even though we have our own sense of humor, memes are another avenue to make us laugh. You can even write your own memes to make the whole world laugh. Search for a meme generator and as fast as you can say, ‘I love cat memes’, you’ll have one to share with everyone.

I'll have to read a few of those parody links which you listed. I had fun in the past, attempting to write parodies. Gosh, you did it now! You made me remember that I was trying to organize my portfolio! LOL. I found one of the parodies which I was looking for - "Story Prompt: Rewrite a fairy tale" . It wasn't easy to find, as I had to fight zombies along the way "A Good Zombie Fright" , "'My Bad' Zombie Poems" , but I finally found it under all the rubble. Thanks for the fun and the memories, Lornda!"

bryanmchunter : "Wreck-It Ralph (2012). That movie is essentially a love letter to classic video games, the way Who Framed Roger Rabbit? was to classic cartoon characters, or the Toy Story movies were to toys. The Fix-it Felix Jr. video game was essentially a mix of Donkey Kong, Rampage, and Wrecking Crew., and Wreck-it Ralph was essentially a human version of Donkey Kong."
Andy~hating university : "Favourite parody movie is definitely Spaceballs, though any of Mel Brooks films are great.
Favorite parody song is probably Amish Paradise by Weird Al.
I don't really have a favourite parody poem, only because I've only ever read about five or six. Though I do quite like "A Modern Curse" and "Maniac President's Song)."
s : "My favourite parody movie is probably The Kentucky Fried Movie. But Robin Hood: Men In Tights, Hot Shots (and Part Deux), Top Secret and Shaun Of The Dead are also really good.
My favourite parody song is tough because 'Weird Al' Yankovic has written so many classics. 'Fat', 'Amish Paradise', 'Smells Like Nirvana', 'White & Nerdy', et al. - so many great ones! So I'm going to go with 'Oedipus Rex' by Ton Lehrer, a parody of film soundtrack songs of the late 50s, early 60s.
And have I written parodies? Had 2 parody versions of 'A Visit From St. Nicholas' published in different places. A parody of 'Deck The Halls' published. Am currently writing a Cthulhu musical, and each song is a parody of a famous song. So, a couple, yeah."
