This year...
We've had to make some adjustments this year because we want to feel safe. Some people started working from home and are dealing with all the distractions that involves. Add to that managing family education while trying to work can be a huge challenge. Everyone seems to be overworked, stressed, and distracted.
On the flip side, I have a few friends who stopped spending huge amounts of time commuting to their job and have more time to write. Many people are streamlining their lives and cutting things that no longer have relevance in their lives. In past issues this year, I wrote about backing up your work, parallels, and intensity in writing, environments, characters, and dialog.
My usual end-of-year newsletter is about storing your work and making resolutions for the New Year. But since this year ended up having some challenges, I'd like to put the question out to the readers. What would you like to change personally for the upcoming year? What adjustments have you made and felt were successful? What 2022 advice do you have for your fellow authors?
Finally, a quick word about our newsletters. Please, take the time to respond to one that inspires you. Its definitely rewarding knowing people are reading and responding.

Excerpt: I'm speaking of something most of you must've felt. Maybe you called it by another name, maybe you didn't call it at all, because you didn't recognise it. But everyone has felt it at some point in their lives. Even at most point in their lives.
I'm speaking of the 'vibe'.
Excerpt: "You look beautiful," he says as he presses his manicured salt and pepper beard upon the mahogany skin of the younger man looking in the mirror. The younger man pulls away as, the older male looks at him in the mirror.
Excerpt: Reaching toward my titebag I suddenly realised my car keys were missing.
Excerpt: Charlene studied the posted work schedule for the umpteenth time. Seriously? It wasn't like she'd had plans for tonight; it was the fact she'd been put on the schedule to work New Year's Eve for three years in a row now. How did that work? And a double shift?
Excerpt: I have a privacy problem. The door to my bathroom doesn’t close tightly all the way, and at times I feel like I’m in a castle surrounded by an invading horde.
This morning, a body slammed against the door. Long paws slid under the door, first one black one and then another.
Excerpt: As the porridge was heating up in the microwave, Hank walked in, his eyes not quite open and his hair all flat at the back. Nina wished him a good morning and accompanied the greeting with a big smile. Hank's answering smile came to a halt when his eyes fell on the rotating bowl.

Last month's "Action/Adventure Newsletter (November 24, 2021)" question: What words do you like to use in the climax (or other parts) of your stories?
TheBusmanPoet  : Depends on what's being written in my poems, since I rarely do stories.
s  : I try to use different words and phrases so that all my stories don't read the same. It's more about a tone.
John & James Wegner : We try to use less common words to stand out. We also try to use words we think are cool. And don't forget about swear words if they make sense. It's a cardinal sin to waste an opportunity like that. Good post. \m/ Forge on! \m/.
