Ah, it’s February! Love is in the air. From candy and chocolates to first dates, there’s plenty of love to go around – and not just romantic love. The ancient Greeks cornered the market on love. This issue we’ll be exploring Greek Love. 
Last month I had a poll: Who receives the most valentines? Here’s how you all answered:

The ancient Greeks had plenty of time to figure out what love was all about so I thought I’d share.
EROS
Eros was that sneaky little “cupid” guy going around shooting off arrows. And what blossomed from those arrows? Physical attraction. Sexual attraction. While not a type of emotional love, it’s a component of romantic love.
PHILIA
This type of love is more of a spiritual type of love. This type of love/affection is usually shared between friends and family and it’s nature usually lasts a long time/forever. Philia is another component of emotional love, and without this connection, romantic relationships generally do not last.
STORGE
Is a devoted love involving family members. Now, this might be one sided, depending on the family situations. An example is the love of a parent caring for a child. This type of devotion makes one feel comfortable and safe. This type of love tends to be very instinctual.
AGAPE
This is unconditional love and usually expresses itself with acts of charity. It is the least selfish type of love and requires nothing in return. The reward for the giver is the smile on the face of the receiver.
LUDUS
This is a teasing, playful love. It involves flirting, teasing, dancing, drinking. Some may enjoy casual sex. It’s about being playful and enjoying the moment.
PRAGMA
There’s nothing exciting about pragma. Usually shared between family and friends, it involves serious life choices made for the sake of your relationship, like what job to take or where to live. Pragma is in it for the long haul and helps to give relationships a deeper meaning when life decisions are made together.
PHILAUTIA
This involves healthy self-love. If one loves oneself in a healthy way, then the ability to love others is there as well. It involves having a healthy self-esteem and an acceptance of oneself.
When these types of love come together in a couple, it helps to create a romantic love that will last a lifetime.

My favorite chocolate is from Switzerland and Belgium and contains at least 60% cocoa, and comes in plain bars.
I had the opportunity to check out chocolate in the US and Canada, but please... how can you call that chocolate? Sorry, brutally honest, I know, please don't take offense here. But after you invested some extra dollars in a bar of Swiss or Belgian dark chocs, you'll understand. 
I used to like M & Ms, though, and added a real Valentines treat where I incorporated them.
(From the Archetypes: definitely the Professor. I'm a real nerd - quantum mechanics, evolutionary biology, math, science fiction books / movies, etc. - and that kind of guy would be the only one not put off by my nerdness.)

Oh, I agree, the stuff that passes for chocolate over here doesn't compare!! I like Lindt and Ghiradelli chocolate. I also like to buy See’s chocolate here in LA, but I like Ethel M out of Las Vegas, and Van Otis, back home in New Hampshire. I really try to stay away from the mass commercially produced stuff.
