Revamping Your Item

I'll tell you up front, this is a hack. This is a cheat. This is underhanded and devious. Bait and switch.

This is about traffic. If you have traffic to your item, people might participate. Interested? Great! Let's say you did a Christmas activity that got a lot of interest. And now you're thinking about a summer activity. Let's also assume that many people favorited that fun Christmas activity so they could visit it every day and have fun. Chances are, they didn't delete the favorite.

And chances are when they log in, they look at their favorites list to see what has been edited and moved to the top of the Favorites list. Meaning someone added a post or made a change to that item. And of course, they click it. So even when YOU edit it, it bounces to the top of their list.

This includes the title and body of the item. When you favorite something, you save the item by the item number. This means you can change your really cool Christmas activity to a summer one and it will alert everyone who has it favorited. Of course, before you do all this craziness, you need to save the Christmas activity template so you don't lose the fun that attracted everyone in the first place, but you can save that in a private static item.

I would definitely advise doing this only once, or the favorite will get dropped. And I'd recommend advertising the item again, don't count on the favorite clicks to get people to join. Do explore bidclicks   and drop a few gift points in there for a few days (I'll do a newsletter on bidclick hacks at some point}

Also, take the time to list your item in "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com or "Activities @ Writing.Com. Ask the leaders of groups to which you belong if they can help you advertise.

Give it a try!
